Surround Yourself With Positivity
In the wake of Thanksgiving, Ben discusses a topic that often only comes with maturity. Young people having a “me against the world” mentality is not only common but is part of growing up. Learning to be grateful for the people around you comes with maturity. Those who don’t develop a sense of gratitude for what they have as they age generally become negative, difficult people. These people often undermine their own potential because they fail to surround themselves with positivity. Surrounding yourself with the right people is how you move forward in life. The right people will help you achieve goals, correct mistakes and support you in times of adversity.
Don’t Play The Blame Game
The world around you doesn’t wake up every day and think, how can I conspire to make your day miserable. Granted, maybe a select few don’t have your best interests in mind but as a whole, you are the only one standing in the way of your own success. Blaming others by saying “no one wanted me to win” or “no one wanted me on the team” is not only counterproductive but often not true. The way you live your life is often determined by those you surround yourself with. Those around you often have similar interests and lines of thought to yourself.
Benefits of Being Grateful Year-Round
Every Thanksgiving we all gather together with loved ones and say what we are thankful for. Reflecting on anything positive that happened throughout the past year while surrounded by those that care for us the most. Ben’s challenge to you is to continue to express and realize that gratitude in all aspects of your life all year long and hopefully for the rest of your life. When you break it down there are always aspects of your life that you can be grateful for. No matter how difficult the situation or how negative the outlook might be, there are always people that are going to want to help you and things that are good in your life. By expressing gratitude for those things you are going to attract more positive people with a similar mindset.
Ben is thankful for all of you out there listening to these Mental Mondays, which have become a part of his life for over three years. We hope you keep tuning in and providing Ben with great material to talk about.
