Fashion Merchandiser
Essential Functions
- Help build the “blueprint” of our Inventory numbers
- Partners with the Product Development team to develop products including sourcing and monitoring delivery.
- Generate gross margin reports and provide analysis on cost changes and pricing initiatives
- Monitor global orders against targets; help to manage raw material purchasing and inventory
- Analyzes and reports on selling, intimately knows the business, strong points and weak spots
- Develop short- and long-term strategies which help grow the current business
- Responsible for reading /approving catalog proofs for each catalog (pricing, naming, copy)
- Develop merchandising strategy and influence brand objectives
- Partners with planner responsible and managing all markdowns, promotions, cost changes and retail changes
- Responsible for cross-functional alignment including: Production & Sourcing, Tech Design, Design, Planning & Allocation, eCommerce, and Finance
- Understands the customer through concentrated profiling and engagement
- Assist in identifying white space in the business and fill it in with volume driving ideas
- Help track and manage Company’s Purchase Orders to track product.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferably in business, retail merchandising, or fashion merchandising
- Years of Experience: 5 – 7 of progressively more significant merchant roles, in some combination of department and/or specialty retail, preferably apparel
- Highly creative critical thinker and problem solver who is familiar with developing smart solutions
- Organization, time management and memory skills with the ability to multitask multiple projects and seasons concurrently
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Must be able to provide clear analysis on product hindsights to various audiences, from both financial and creative perspectives
- Ability to identify, develop and retain talent
- Achievement oriented and has demonstrated leadership potential
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment and handle multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines
- Builds strong cross-functional partnerships with Merchandising, Design and Inventory Management to help influence product assortments and identify missed opportunities within the line.
- Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
- Ability to think strategically and tactically
- Complex and strategic calendar management; including scheduling, time management, organization and prioritization of appointments and meetings (studying ways and means to color code this process)
- Strong fact-based and intuitive decision-making skills
- Ability to travel domestically and some internationally
