On this episode of the RUDIS Wrestling Podcast, Ben Askren and Matt Dernlan bring in the New Year with a recap of the 2019 Midlands Championships results. To kick off the podcast, the two discuss the tendency of college coaches to try and sway the officials, and then the increased amount of programs giving their athletes time off around the holidays to spend with their families. Digging into the matchups by weight, Dernlan defends Spencer Lee’s medical forfeit citing his performance two weeks prior at the U.S. Open, and the two make a prediction that Iowa will win the team race if Penn State continues to be plagued by injury.
