Coralville, Iowa– The U.S. men’s freestyle wrestling team, led by 4x World and Olympic Champion, Kyle Snyder, once again stopped the Iranian contingent with a hard-fought 6-4 victory for the 2022 Freestyle World Cup title. This championship effort by Team USA was highlighted by Snyder’s victory in the feature matchup of World champions. Snyder registered a resounding, title-clinching, 5-0 shutout in the championship finals over Iran’s 2-time, defending world champion, Kamran Ghasampour who moved up a weight class in hopes of stopping USA’s momentum. 

Olympic and 6-time World champion, Jordan Burroughs(79kg) also contributed racking up decisive wins over Georgia and Mongolia. Kollin Moore (97kg), a U23 World silver-medalist, also rounded out the 2022 World Cup team roster.

 Eighteen year old, Amit Elor (72kg), the youngest wrestler to win a World championship in American history, led the Freestyle World Cup Women’s team to victory. She wrestled the once blanking China, 5-0. Emily Shilson (50kg), a two-time U23 World champion and Kayla Miracle(62kg), Olympian and World silver medalist, also contributed to the fourth place finish.

 

Jordan Burroughs Shoe Giveaway

Jordan Burroughs, the greatest wrestler in American history, initiated a highly-successful Rudis wrestling shoe giveaway, presenting over 200 pairs of new shoes to the international delegations competing for gold at the 2022 Freestyle World Cup in Coralville, Iowa.

The unprecedented event was meant to extend the ‘Olive-Branch’, representing the goodwill of giving back to help grow the international wrestling community. Smiles and comradery were the order of the day, as throngs of enthusiastic wrestlers and coaches from Iran, Mongolia, and Ukraine lined up to receive these unexpected gifts of peace. 

 Lasting moments of memorable brotherhood were clearly established as grateful recipients, from these prominent, international delegations posed for a variety of delightful pictures with Burroughs at the centerpiece. Among those present from Team RUDIS athletes also included Kayla Miracle, Emily Shilson, and Spencer Lee.
